Have a look at what we’ve been learning…
Visit to Gibside
On Tuesday Class 1 and 2 went to Gibside, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We started our day with a walk through the park spotting wild deer roaming in the grounds before heading to the den building area. Here the children developed their engineering skills by trying to create freestanding structures with the sticks and logs lying around. We then followed the animal trail down the low ropes course allowing us to practice our balancing and strength skills. We ended the day in the amazing play area complete with an ice cream.
Adam Bushnell
We have had a fantastic morning with author Adam Bushnell. The children have been using the story of ‘Meerkat mail’ to come up with story plots and characters. We developed super powers and costumes for the meerkats. We will use these to write our own stories in class.
Beep Beep Day!
On Wednesday 24th April we celebrated Beep, Beep Day! Raising awareness of road safety. The children sang a song to help them remember to fasten their seat belts. They also practiced crossing the road safely, holding hands as well as consistently looking and listening.
We then looked at why wearing a seatbelt is important and completed an experiment involving a toy car crashing into the wall. We really enjoyed participating in this and learned about the importance of road safety.
Winter Walk in Wolsingham
Class 2 have enjoyed a winter walk around the village. We have been learning about seasons in science and went to look for signs of Winter. We found bare trees, ice, hard ground and burrows amongst other things. Some of the children were even able to explain why the sun was low in the sky.
Letters to Santa
Class 2 have been writing letters to Santa this week and using an app called Adobe Spark Video to perform them.
