Have a look at what we’ve been learning…
Binchester Roman Fort
Class 5 walked in the footsteps of Roman soldiers through the remains of a commanding officer’s house and learnt about the importance of Roman bathhouses. Inside they managed to see one of the most intact hypocaust, or underfloor, heating systems in Britain. They also had the chance to see what it was like being an archaeologist and piece together clues to discover what life would have been like living there in Roman times.
Our Solar System
We began by learning how the solar system was first formed and how the planets orbit the sun. We then ordered the planets out on the field and learnt that the inner rocky planets are closer to the sun, whilst the larger gas giants are much further away and are separated by an asteroid belt.
Sewing
Our first session learning how to create a running stitch was a success. We’ll be continuing to practice our sewing skills before creating our own fabric advent calendars.
PE – Communication Challenge
In PE, we have been working on our communication and teamwork. The challenges set involve using clear instructions, as well as taking turns and listening to each other in order to succeed.
