Kensuke’s Kingdom
Across this week, we have been working on ‘Show not Tell’ strategies for writing. On Monday, we discussed what the characters of Michael’s mum and dad would be feeling but then tried to show this through their actions and dialogue in their books rather than explicitly telling the reader what the character’s feeling were. This helped develop our inference skills too which we use in Reading Comprehension – looking at it from a writer’s point of view. Following this, on Wednesday, we worked in groups to act out the final scene of the story as to how we thought it might end. We performed freeze frames to capture the emotion and action so we can focus on this in our writing. Tomorrow, we will be using our storytelling skills to verbally tell the story before writing it up.
