Testing for Carbon Dioxide

As part of our Materials unit in Science, we have been learning about the states of solid, liquid and gas.  This week, we did an experiment on gas.  We each were given a can of fizzy pop to weigh.  We then left the can to go flat.  We did this in order to find out if this would reduce the weight of the can due to the carbon dioxide being removed.  We concluded, although they may only have a small quantity of gas, that each can must have held carbon dioxide as each weight dropped by a couple of grams.  This proves that gas does have weight.  We concluded that the can with the most carbon dioxide was 7Up which had the biggest difference in weight.
