On Monday, Class 5 ventured out into Wolsingham to explore the streams and river in the area. We started following the Waskerley Beck upstream where we saw a series of waterfalls. We identified some features of erosion in the stream, including the formation of new waterfalls. We then tracked the Waskerley as closely as we could to its confluence with the River Wear. After this, we followed the river upstream, stopping on a beach to look at a beach of stones, noticing the shape of them due to erosion whilst being transported down the river. We also spotted rapids in the river. We have used this information in our Geography lessons to explore land use next to the river and the features of our local river.
