Puppets in DT
This half term, we have been busy bringing our creativity to life through an exciting Design & Technology project – making our very own hand puppets!
We began by exploring a variety of different puppets, including hand, finger and string puppets. We particularly enjoyed comparing how each type works and thinking about their different features and purposes. Inspired by what we had discovered, we moved on to designing our own unique hand puppet characters. We used templates and felt to carefully cut out the shapes we needed. We then practised our stitching skills to join the pieces together, showing great perseverance and determination because sewing can be tricky. Finally, each puppet was brought to life with an imaginative array of decorations from googly eyes to wool and pipe cleaners. We have all thoroughly enjoyed making our puppets learning a new skill of sewing.
