This week, we learnt the names of the planets in our solar system. We explored the different facts about the planets including their size in diameter, average temperature and the lengths of their days and years. We found some astonishing facts out. Did you know that despite Jupiter being the largest planet in our solar system that its day last for just 9 hours and 55 minutes! To help us learn about the planets, we did a fun quick-fire quiz before selecting a ball that would represent the planet in terms of size. We arranged ourselves on the playground into order of distance from sun and explored how planets don’t just orbit the sun (travel around) but rotate too to give us our night and day.
