Odd and Even

Odd and Even

This week in maths, Reception Class have been exploring making pairs. We looked at how many pairs (lots of 2) we could make with different amounts of counters. So 4 counters gives 2 pairs (2 lots of 2) but 7 counters gives 3 pairs and an odd one left over. This led into learning the terms ‘odd’ and ‘even’ and the children know that an amount with 1 left over when you make pairs, is an odd number. The other amounts were even. We went on to sort the Numicon numbers into odd and even.
