KS2 had a fantastic time travelling by train to Stanhope and taking part in a variety of exciting activities celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway.
During the visit, the children enjoyed a safety talk and took part in a quiz exploring the history of trains. They also developed their engineering skills by building bridges and designing wheels capable of travelling successfully along a track. In addition, they learned about the wide range of careers linked to the railway industry.
The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the different resources available in each carriage. Highlights included coding activities and creating their own landscapes using sand and projection technology to ensure trains could run smoothly.
Overall, it was a highly engaging and educational experience that brought history, engineering, and creativity to life.
