Food Label Investigation

Class 4 have been busy developing their understanding of healthy eating through an exciting food label investigation. The children explored a wide range of food packaging and worked collaboratively in groups to decide how best to sort the items. They considered different criteria, including the ‘traffic light’ nutritional information, food groups, and whether items were healthy or unhealthy.

The activity sparked lots of discussion and curiosity, and the children had great fun sharing their ideas. They then moved on to a more detailed investigation, recording the amounts of salt, sugar, and fat (per 100g) for eight different food items. The children carefully selected items from a variety of food groups to ensure a balanced comparison.

To present their findings, the class created bar charts and will soon be analysing the data to draw conclusions about healthier food choices. A fantastic combination of teamwork, enquiry, and maths skills!
