As part of our topic work on winter, we learnt about how the cold, icy weather makes life difficult for some animals, particularly birds. We decided to make some bird feeders and hang them up in the outdoor area to help the birds. We mixed some bird seed and lard together and then covered pine cones with the mixture. We put some string on the pine cones too so we could hang them up. The children enjoyed making the bird feeders and hanging them up on the trees and fences. Hopefully we will see lots of birds visiting the outdoor area and enjoying the food.
