Today the children recapped what they knew about dividing decimals by 10 and 100 and we discussed what happens to the digits when we multiply.
We played practical games where the children danced to the ‘Cha-Cha’ slide and wrote on tables or their place value chart to multiply the randomly generated decimal number.
They children were then given either 2 or 3 dice to create their own decimal numbers with a partner (or group of three) and then multiply each number by 10. When they were confident they were able to multiply their numbers by 100. We talked about the place holder (0) giving clues about how many ‘jumps’ or ‘places’ the digit needed to slide.
