In our Science lesson, we have been working on forces and gravitational pull. We learnt about the difference between ‘mass’ and ‘weight’. After weighing the mass of objects and then how many newtons that are exerted on the same object, we found a relationship between the two. Objects with larger masses, tend to have more weight. We also learnt that our mass does not change no matter where we are, but our weight reflects the gravitational pull of where we are. Using this logic, we would be much lighter if we stood on the moon, and much heavier if we stood on Jupiter. This is because the moon has less gravity on it and Jupiter, as a large planet, has a larger gravitational pull. However, our mass would stay the same regardless of what planet we were on!
