Easter

We came to the end of our Anglo-Saxon topic this week.  We explored artefacts from the time, as if we’d found them in the Sutton Hoo burial mound.  We used our understanding of history and own investigative skills to decide how the items were used, who by and where they might have been found in an Anglo-Saxon village.  Finally, we completed our unit by holding a debate on who made the greater impact on Britain – The Romans or the Anglo-Saxons.  The class decided that although the Romans had many fantastic ideas, a lot of them didn’t last long or weren’t as effective as we may think.  However, the Anglo-Saxons led lots of changes such as moving towards Christianity and away from Paganism, changing the way our country was structured, introducing new words and forming the language we speak today and even our current King could be traced back to one of the Saxon’s kings! Class 5 have some fantastic debaters in our midst!
